you know what?
it takes a lot longer to read my convoluted ramblings than to TAG!so, when you drop by,
my fascination with stars began in 1999, when my bestfriend aps hooked me into the wonderul internet world. sans a good idea for a username in MIRC, i asked her- "anong maganda?" ...she shrugged and said- "kahit ano, yan o. star?" her hand flew to my left ear and fiddled with the little star earstuds i wore that day. "...hmm. why not, choknat?!" after that, i just fell in love!
my online nicks- ^bItUiN^, istaRr (my peyups handle!), supern0va, stariray- have evolved in time but it "stars" one thing, stars! aren't they so pretty? they're geometrically perfect, and astronomically beautiful! is there a more soothing sight for the hopeless soul than a twinkling light in a dark sky?
"When you are sad and lonely, just look at the stars. They're so pretty. You deserve the stars. You deserve all the beautiful things in life."
Catch stars of your own!
i consider my vocal cords as the BEST blessing that God has given me. singing has always been one of my two biggest passions; and it has taken me places, led me to meet different-wonderful-beautiful people, graced me memories, and taught me a lot! it's one of the best ways that i express myself, it has filled my most idle moments and transformed them into happy times. most importantly, it will always and always be my favorite way of praising the Lord, to Whom i give back all the glory. sing out!!!
oh, the beauty of words! i have always LOVED to write--- i started writing poems when i was five, gobbled up my english and filipino lessons all throughout my academic life, immersed myself in journalism classes, am on my 13th diary lately, have written countless articles and word-doodles and even just plain crap... you get the idea. that's why i also enjoy blogging so much. write-write-write! love it-love it-love it!
however, my blogs are but a chunk of my cluttered existence. take it seriously if you must, but there's more to me than i share. you may ask me, that may work. the question is, will i tell you more?
yuh-huh, I am loved!
because of friendster’s current sucky format, my testimonials from my beloved friends are drowning on each other. so I decided to “revive?them by posting three lovey-love-love tributes from my friends.
(o, walang favoritism ‘to ha. random! baka magkaselosan pa. hehehe.)
Jojie ang pinakamagandang kalbo sa
balat ng lupa. hah! finally... that's a
start! hirap mong gawan ng testi! so
many nice things to say about u!!!
grrr... here we go. Jojie is my crush.
Literally - cuz i admire her. (uuy,
issue! hahaha!) and what's not to
admire about this lady? aside from the
fact that she's got a pretty face,
appeal, and she's a good - not to
mention stylish - dresser (love the
hats!), she's religious, smart and damn
talented (no one beats this voice,
magaling mag-ocho ocho, actress,
pulburon-maker, and the list goes on..
and on... and on). i cannot say that
we've been friends for such a long
time, so then maybe i don't know her
that well. but what the hell, for us,
time is nothing but a number! diba
Joj?! it's funny how much mems we have
within that short span of time. ang
saya! never a dull moment with her! hay
nako, ur a million (and still counting)
good things rolled into one. but the
reason why i really admire her is
because she's such a strong person
within, (no matter how bad the
situation is) she has this ever
positive vibe that is ever contagious.
yep, such a radiant personality only
from Jojie:) and we all love you for
that. she's a lovely angel, definitely
a walking ray of sunshine, smile na
tinubuan ng tao, a hero, an
inspiration, a fighter, a FREE and
BRAVE soul, beauty personified, a star
(literally and figuratively), a true
friend, a samaritan, life's treasure!
it's people like Jojie that remind you
how wonderful life is, and how blessed
you really are. it's true what they say
that the best things in life are free.
i know that now. thanks Jojie, and
thank God for Jojie!!! Dito lang kami
for you, ayt? :) Hope you find ¡°the
one¡± soon! *wink* cheers to happier
days and louder-than-ever laughs!!!
luv ya friend! forever and ever... and
a day!ü *mWaHuGz*
jokabed...tawag yan kay jojie sa "spell-
EAT" ng "Eat Bulaga".. di kasi ma-
pronounce ni Vic Sotto yung name nya
(anlaking tao, antanga no?)dun nag-
start na tawagin ko syang jokabed,,
hehe.. we've been friends since first
grade (naks...first grade ung ginamit
na term.. feeling IS tyo eh.. hwek hwek)
since before nagshihine na to.. sa
acads and most especially, sa
singing..;) oi bru, naalala mo na tayo
lagi magka-duet? hehe, ambongga natin
newai, what more can i say? everyone
must have written in their testimonials
all the best you have offered this
ako? i'll just write how i was so
blessed to have met you.. you were a
very important part of my life..
dai na nating pinagdaanan no? mga kanta
sa Glee Club, mga ek-ek plays, pati
pulitika pinasok natin nun! thanks for
the wonderful experiences... sana
eventhough we aren't together now like
before, we would always keep the fire
of friendship burning!
jojie inspired me to what i am now.
honest yun! kasi she was the first one to
believe in me, in my talent, and what i
she inspired me to sing, to do politics,
to perform, to lead.
and she did it all without really knowing..
i miss you a lot! and i admire you more
i love you!
friends for keeps!
jie, naalala mo nung nilagyan ko ng
kisses yung coleman mo? hehe..la
lang... come to think of it, untikan na
pala kitang todasin.. hwekhwek... buti
na lang hindi natuloy... hehe
jojie's optimism inspires me. kailangan
babaeng 'to. kahit ilang milyong beses
yatang ma-heartbroken 'to(hindi lang ng
mga tangang lalaki na hindi kayang i-
appreciate ang isang special na
nilalang na tulad niya), all smiles pa rin.
sure, i've witnessed many of her "tear
fests" too. pero dahil nga strong si jojie
at isa siyang optimism with arms and
the right time. kundi man.. ano ngayon?
i just had to devote a chunk for my favorite tv show of aaaaall time, FRIENDS! i know everything about it by heart! and when i say everything, i mean everything--- trivioids, the characters, each and every episode... everything! oh how my heart breaks each time i think that they've wrapped up their last season already (it was may6 in the states, i think); but hey, there'd always be DVDs, and uber-cool FRIENDS sites.
here's my favorite, read FRIENDS episodes to your heart's content!
what dogs teach us!
dogs are my favorite creatures in the world! (sometimes, i can't even say "... next to humans") they're smart and adorable, and they can be your most-best-est friend. here are stuff that dogs teach us:
* When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.
* Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.
* Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure ecstasy.
* When it's in your best interest, practice obedience.
* Let others know when they've invaded your territory.
* Take naps.
* Stretch before rising.
* Run, romp, and play daily.
* Thrive on attention and let people touch you.
* Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.
* On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass.
* On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.
* When you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body.
* No matter how often you're scolded, don't buy into the guilt thing and pout...run right back and make friends.
* Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.
*Eat with gusto and enthusiasm. Stop when you have had enough.
* Be Loyal. Never pretend to be something you're not.
* If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.
* When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by and nuzzle them gently.
tara na, biyahe tayo!
•locks of love?
Monday, July 27, 2009
(got this from the net. hi blogdrive! miss you!)
1. Take a 10-30 minute walk every day, and while you walk, smile. It is the ultimate anti-depressant.
2. Sit in silence for at least 10 minutes each day. Talk to God (or to
your higher power or meditate) about what is going on in your life. Buy
a lock if you have to.
3. When you wake up in the morning complete the following statement, 'My purpose is to__________ today. I am thankful for______________ '
4. Eat more foods that grow on trees and plants and eat less food that is manufactured in plants.
5. Drink green tea and plenty of water. Eat blueberries, wild Alaskan salmon, broccoli, almonds & walnuts.
6. Try to make at least three people smile each day.
7. Don't waste your precious energy on gossip, energy vampires, issues of the past, negative thoughts or things you cannot control. Instead invest your energy in the positive present moment.
8. Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a college kid with a maxed out charge card.
9. Life is not fair, but it is still good.
10. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.
11. Don ' t take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
12. You are not so important that you have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.
13. Make peace with your past so it will not spoil the present.
14. Don ' t compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.
15. No one is in charge of your happiness except you.
16. Frame every so-called disaster with these words: ' In five years, will this matter? '
17. Forgive everyone for everything.
18. What other people think of you is none of your business.
19. GOD heals everything - but you have to ask Him.
20. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.
21. Your job will not take care of you when you are sick. Your friends will. Stay in touch!!!
22. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.
23. Each night, before you go to bed complete the following statements: I am thankful for__________. Today I accomplished_________.
24. Remember that you are too blessed to be stressed.
25. When you are feeling down, start listing your many blessings. You will be smiling before you know it.

* woohoo! :) whipped up a bday surprise for mocs, one of my closest work friends and it was a success! :) medyo ngaragan lang kasi yung cahoot ko e kagabi lang inisip na chochorva kami... samantalang three days kaming naghahanap ng gagawin. cute. nonetheless, i'm so happy to have seen her thrilled by just a batch of ginataang suso (...snails, yguys), a special video, and a surprise visit from dada javs. their moment was so priceless, umiiyak na 'ko sa kakatawa. i loved it. haha!
i love making people happy when it's their birthday. :) your birthday is your day, all bitterness about growing/up/old aside. it's the day that God said "here you go world, another one of my babies!", and we ought to be thankful for that always and always! :) kung kaibigan kita, chochorvahin at chochorvahin kita sa bday mo, whether you like it or not.

ONCE YOU GO BLACK, YOU CAN'T GO BACK
bumili ng black Macbook, masasabi ko nang: “Once you go black, you
can’t go back”
designer, lay-out artist, film and video editor, lalo na writer. Sulit
magsulat-sulat ka kunwari for a while. Maya-maya, pag nagpasukan na ang
mga kolehiyala at mga hottie na yuppies, time to bring out your baby.
ring angst-ridden, eccentric, genius, introspective, freelance artist.
Macbook).
napag-iiwanan ka na ng panahon, this is the machine for you. Sobrang
Walang right click, isang pindutan lang.
o dictionary definition pati nawawala mong pusa, kaya niyang hanapin.
Kung laos kang multimedia artist or
angst-ridden starving artist (kahit totoo). Kung may mga Metrosexual,
sa Macbook, mukha kang Technosexual.

MEDIEVAL AESTHETICS: St. Thomas Aquinas
the three aspects of beauty and give three examples of each.
Wholeness, Harmony, Clarity
three are whole:
A note of music
An uncaught trout
A single stone.
three are harmonious:
The breath of two sleepers
The colors of wood and flame
The pull of muscle on bone.
these are clear:
Bird song over water
Light lancing from waves
The edge of the moon.

watch THIS VIDEO, enjoy the cuteness, and let's revel on the joys and perils of love together!
A Quoi Ca Sert L'Amour
A quoi ça sert, l'amour? Oh what's the use of love
On raconte toujours That falls from heav'n above
Des histoires insensées When those fine tales you hear
A quoi ça sert d'aimer? Can only bring you tears
L'amour ne s'explique pas! Love is a mystery
C'est une chose comme ça! That enfolds you and me
Qui vient on ne sait d'où It comes from who knows where
Et vous prend tout à coup. When I can see you care
Moi, j'ai entendu dire But then I 've heard it said
Que l'amour fait souffrir, It brings you hurt instead
Que l'amour fait pleurer, It only makes you cry
A quoi ça sert d'aimer? Oh can't you tell me why?
L'amour, ça sert à quoi? Oh, what's the use of love
A nous donner d'la joie That falls from heav'n above
Avec des larmes aux yeux… It brings us joy and pain
C'est triste et merveilleux! Each time we love again!
Pourtant on dit souvent But still they always say
Que l'amour est décevant It just brings hurt your way
Qu'il y a un sur deux To love and lose is sad
Qui n'est jamais heureux… You cry for what you had
Même quand on l'a perdu But even when you've lost
L'amour qu'on a connu And when you count the cost
Vous laisse un gout de miel - You'll have sweet memories
L'amour c'est éternel! Of how we used to be
Tout ça c'est très joli, All that is very nice
Mais quand tout est fini But what about the price
Il ne vous reste rien You've nothing left but pain
Qu'un immense chagrin… Why should you love again
Tout ce qui maintenant What tears your heart today
Te semble déchirant Will soon just fade away
Demain, sera pour toi The days to come will shine
Un souvenir de joie! With joy that's yours and mine
En somme, si j'ai compris, So what you want to say
Sans amour dans la vie, Is when love comes our way
Sans ses joies, ses chagrins, With all its joy and pain
On a vécu pour rien? We start to live again
Mais oui! Regarde-moi! Oh yes just look at me
A chaque fois j'y crois! When I believe in you
Et j'y croirait toujours… And you believe me too
Ça sert à ça l'amour! We'll know that love is true
Mais toi, tu es le dernier! You are the first and last
Mais toi' tu es le premier! We'll laugh at time that's passed
Avant toi y avait rien The whole of my life through
Avec toi je suis bien I'll live for only you!
C'est toi que je voulais! We'll keep those memories
C'est toi qu'il me fallait! Of how our souls flew free
Toi que j'aimerais toujours… That last for evermore
Ça sert à ça l'amour! Yes, that's what love is for!

someday, my ditziness will make me a stella awardee and get me lotsandlotsamoolah.
Thursday, January 08, 2009 5:28:58 AM
It's time again for the annual "Stella Awards"! For those unfamiliar with these awards, they are named after 81-year-old Stella Liebeck who spilled hot coffee on herself and successfully sued the McDonald's in New Mexico where she purchased the coffee. You remember..... she took the lid off the coffee and put it between her knees while she was driving. Who would ever think one could get burned doing that - right?
That's right, these are awards for the most outlandish lawsuits and verdicts in the U.S. You know, the kinds of cases that make you scratch your head. So keep your head scratcher handy.
Here are the Stella's for the past year:
7TH PLACE :
Kathleen Robertson of Austin, Texas was awarded $80,000 by a jury of her peers after breaking her ankle tripping over a toddler who was running inside a furniture store. The store owners were understandably surprised by the verdict, considering the running toddler was her own son.
6TH PLACE :
Carl Truman, 19, of Los Angeles, California won $74,000 plus medical expenses when his neighbor ran over his hand with a Honda Accord. Truman apparently didn't notice there was someone at the wheel of the car when he was tr ying to steal his neighbor's hub caps.
Go ahead, grab your head scratcher.
5TH PLACE :
Terrence Dickson, of Bristol, Pennsylvania, was leaving a house he had just burglarized by way of the garage. Unfortunately for Dickson, the automatic garage door opener malfunctioned and he could not get the garage door to open. Worse, he couldn't re-enter the house because the door connecting the garage to the house locked when Dickson pulled it shut. Forced to sit for eight, count 'em, EIGHT, days on a case of Pepsi and a large bag of dry dog food, he sued the homeowner's insurance company claiming undue mental Anguish. Amazingly, the jury said the insurance company must pay Dickson $500,000 for his anguish. We should all have t his kind of anguish.
Keep scratching. There are more...
4TH PLACE :
Jerry Williams, of Little Rock, Arkansas, garnered 4th Place in the Stella's when he was awarded $14,500 plus medical expenses after being bitten on the butt by his next door neighbor's beagle - even though the beagle was on a chain in its owner's fenced yard. Williams did not get as much as he asked for because the jury believed the beagle might have been provoked at the time of the butt bite because Williams had climbed over the fence into the yard and repeatedly shot the dog with a pellet gun.
Grrrrr ... Scratch, scratch.
3RD PLACE :
Third place goes to Amber Carson of Lancaster , Pennsylvania because a jury ordered a Philadelphia restaurant to pay her $113, 500 after she slipped on a spilled soft drink and broke her tailbone. The reason the soft drink was on the floor: Ms. Carson had thrown it at her boyfriend 30 seconds earlier during an argument. What ever happened to people being responsible for their own actions?
Scratch, scratch, scratch. Hang in there; there are only two more Stellas to go...
2ND PLACE :
Kara Walton, of Claymont, Delaware sued the owner of a night club in a nearby city because she fell from the bathroom window to the floor, knocking out her two front teeth. Even though Ms. Walton was trying to sneak through the ladies room window to avoid paying the $3.50 cover charge, the jury said the night club had to pay her $12,000....oh, yeah, plus dental expenses. Go figure.
1ST PLACE : (May I have a fanfare played on 50 kazoos please?)
This year's runaway First Place Stella Award winner was Mrs. Merv Grazinski, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, who purchased a new 32-foot Winnebago motor home. On her first trip home from an OU football game, having driven onto the freeway, she set the cruise control at 70 mph and calmly left the driver's seat to go to the back of the Winnebago to make herself a sandwich. Not surprisingly, the motor home left the freeway, crashed and overturned. Also not surprisingly, Mrs. Grazinski sued Winnebago for not putting in the owner's manual that she couldn't actually leave the driver's seat while the cruise control was set. The Oklahoma jury awarded her, are you sitting down, $1,750,000 PLUS a new motor home. Winnebago actually changed their manuals as a result of this suit, just in case Mrs. Grazinski has any relatives who might also buy a motor home.

akalain mo nga naman. hahaha. from her facebook notes.
More excerpts from Quotable Star Trek (by Jill Sherman). Because Jojie asked earlier today, if I had Star Trek words of wisdom for her on the unfortunate fate of her laptop. This is for you Joj:
Chapter 4: Human Nature
"Do you know that you're one of the few predator species that preys even on itself?"
- Trelane to Kirk. TOS / "The Squire of Gothos"
"Your violent intent and actions demonstrate that you are not civilized."
- Metron to McCoy. TOS / "Arena."
"Jim, madness has no purpose... or reason. but it may have a goal."
- Spock to Kirk. TOS / "The Alternative Factor"
"Humans do have an amazing capacity for believing what they choose and excluding that which is painful."
-Spock to Kirk. TOS / "And the Children Shall Need"
"... To many humans, a mystery is irresistible. It must be solved."
- Picard to Troi/Paxan. TNG / "Clues"
"Curious. I've never understood the human compulsion to emotionally bond with inanimate objects. this vessel has 'done' nothing. It's an assemblage of bulkheads, conduits, tritanium. Nothing more."
"Oh, you're wrong. It's much more than that... this ship has been our home... it's kept us together... it's been part of our family. As illogical as this might sound... I feel as close to Voyager as I do to any other member of the crew. It's carried us, Tuvok, even nurtured us... and right now, it needs one of us."
- Tuvok and Janeway. VGR / "Year of Hell, Part II"
"Sometimes you've got to look back, in order to move forward."
- Janeway to Seven of Nine. VGR / "Hope and Fear"
Chapter 8: Good and Evil
"Does not your sacred book promise that good is stronger than evil?"
"Yes, it is written. Good shall always destroy evil."
- Kirk and Sirah. TOS / "The Omega Glory"
"Spock, I've found that evil usually triumphs... unless good is very, very careful."
- McCoy to Spock. TOS / "The Omega Glory"
"Evil does seek to maintain power by suppressing the truth."
"Or by misleading the innocent."
- Spock and McCoy. TOS / "And the Children Shall Lead"
"Captain, one of the things I've learned on these voyages and on this ship and from you... is that most life-forms act out of an instinct for survival - not out of malice."
- Riker to Picard. TNG / "Shades of Gray"
"You cannot explain away a wantonly immoral act because you think that it is connected to some higher purpose."
- Picard to Alkar. TNG / "Man of the People"
"Everyone has their reasons. That's what's so frightening. People can find a way to justify any action, no matter how evil."
- Kira to Tora Ziyal. DS9 / "By Inferno's Light"
"Without the darkness... how would we recognize the light?"
- Tuvok to Kes. VGR / "Cold Fire"
Chapter 15: Courtesy and Respect
"If you respect our customs and we see that respect, we will be friends..."
- Lutan to Picard. TNG / "Code of Honor"
"Good manners, Madam, are never a waste of time. Civility, gentlemen. Always civility."
- Cyrus Redblock to Beverly. TNG / "The Big Good-bye"
"Dismissed. That's a Starfleet expression for 'get out...'"
- Janeway to Neelix. VGR / "The Cloud"
"The two hundred and ninety-ninth Rule of Acquisition: 'Whenever you exploit someone, it never hurts to thank them.' That way, it's easier to exploit them the next time."
- Neelix to Arridor, Making up a new Rule of Acquisition. VGR / "False Profits"
Chapter 17: Justice and Law
"You already know if you punish him without reason, it won't mean anything. And you already know vengeance isn't enough."
- Dax to Kira, on Aamin Marritza, a suspected war criminal. DS9 / "Duet"
"Cardassian rules, Bajoran rules, Federation rules... they're all meaningless to you... because you have a personal code that's always mattered more... and I'm sorry to say you're in slim company..."

- Zek to Quark, on the law. DS9 / "Rules of Acquisition"
"I think you can't judge people by what they think or say... only by what they do."
- Kira to Ziyal. DS9 / "By Inferno's Light."

- Janeway to Paris. VGR / "Random Thoughts"

Chapter 10: Parents, Children, and Family
(There are chapters on Human Nature, The Quality of Life, Humour, and
other interesting ones, but since I'm a teacher, this chapter takes the
"I think children have an instinctive need for adults. They want to be told right and wrong."
- Kirk to Rand. The Original Series / "Miri"
"The Horta is intelligen, peaceful, mild. She had no objection to
sharing this planet with you till you broke into her nursery and
started destroying her eggs. Then she fought back in the only way she
knew how. As any mother would fight when her children are in danger."
- Kirk to Chief Engineer Vanderberg. TOS / "The Devil in the Dark"
"Parents like stupid things."
"Oh, I don't know about that. Parents like children."
- Don Linden and Chapel. TOS / "And the Children Shall Lead."
"Youth doesn't excuse everything, Doctor McCoy."
- Kirk/Lester to McCoy. TOS / "Turnabout Intruder"
"My logic is uncertain where my son is concerned."
- Sarek to High Priestess T'Lar. The Search for Spock.
"Our children are not for sale at any price."
- Beverly to Radue. The Next Generation / "When the Bough Breaks."
"You are trifling with the primal instincts of our species. I must warn
you that human parents are quite willing to die for their children."
- Picard to Radue on the kidnapping of the Enterprise children. TNG / "When the Bough Breaks."
"Dad, I want to be an artist. But I don't want to take calculus anymore."
"You can be anything you want, Harry. Anything. But you still have to take calculus."
- Harry Bernard, Jr. and Dr. Bernard. TNG / "When the Bough Breaks."
"The most dangerous animal is a mother protecting her young."
- Picard to Troi. TNG / "The Dauphin."
"You choose your enemies... you choose your friends... but family... that's in the stars."
- O'Brien to Riker. TNG / "The Icarus Factor."
"It's a funny thing about being a parent. There aren't any tech
manuals, no quick read-outs to get your thought the next set of
variables. You've just got to wing it from day to day..."
- Kyle Riker to Will Riker. TNG / "The Icarus Factor."
"You can't guide someone into adulthood. the experiences are unique to
each person. Whether Wes succeeds of fails, he will learn from the
- Troi to senior staff, on Wesley. TNG / "Pen Pals."
"A mother shapes her child in ways she doesn't even realize. Sometimes just by listening."
- Guinan to Beverly. TNG / "Evolution."
"Mother, look. Perhaps some day I will marry. But you have to let me
make my own choices... live my own life, and not the life that you
would choose for me."
- Troi to Lwaxana. TNG / "Menage a Troi."
"Young children are sometimes frightened of the world. That doesn't
mean that their parents should let them stay in their cribs."
- Barclay to Troi. TNG / "The Nth Degree."
"We raise them, we care for them, we suffer for them, we keep them from
harm their whole lives... now eventually, it's their turn to take care
- Lwaxana to Timicin, on children's responsibilities to aging parent. TNG / "Half a Life."
"No parent should expect to be paid back for the love they've given their children."
- Timicin to Lwaxana. TNG / "Half a Life."
"Children don't have the experience to handle emotional crises. Instead of dealing with their feelings, they act on them."
- Troi to Worf. TNG / "New Ground."
"One day you're going to be glad your father cared enough about you to
insist on rules. It may be hard to imagine right now... but eventually,
most children come to appreciate their parents."
- Troi to Alexander. TNG / "Cost of Living."
"Well of course he's unreasonable; he's a child. And such a child. you
know, making little boys reasonable only gives them pimples."
- Lwaxana to Worf, on Alexander. TNG / "Cost of Living."
"Children are a lot stronger than you think. As long as they know you
love them... they can handle just about anything life throws at them,
- La Forge to Ensign Sutter. TNG / "Imaginary Friend."
"As adults, we don't always stop to consider how everything we say and
do shapes the impressions of young people. But if you're judging us as
a people by the way we treat our children... and I think there can be
no better criterion... then you must understand how deeply we care for
them. When our children are young, they don't understand what might be
dangerous. Our rules are to keep them from harm. Real or imagined. And
that's part of the continuity of our human species. When Clara grows
up, she will make rules for her children... to protect them... as we
- Picard to Isabella. TNG / "Imaginary Friend."
"I always believed that I didn't need children to complete my life... now, I couldn't imagine life without them."
- Picard to Eline, on their children. TNG / "The Inner Light."
"You know, I don't think anyone is born knowing how to be a parent. You
just sort of figure it out as you go. But the one quality that tends to
be a requirement for parenthood is patience."
- Beverly to Picard. TNG / "Bloodlines."
"The sound of children playing. What could be more beautiful...?"
- Benjamin Sisko to Jennifer Sisko. Deep Space 9 / "Emissary."
"Going through my own adolescence was difficult enough. Surviving my son's is going to take a miracle."
- Sisko to Dax. DS9 / "The Nagus."
"Seems just yesterday he was five years old... clinging to me because
he'd just scraped his knee and I was the only one int the world who
could make it better. I remember sometimes getting up in the middle of
the night and slipping into his room just to make sure he was all
right... and I'd sit there and watch him sleep... and I'd think to
myself that no matter what, I wasn't going to let anything bad happen
to this child. Now he's a sector away, in a war zone, and there's
nothing I can do to protect him."
- Sisko to Odo, on Jake. DS9 / "Nor the Battle to the Strong."
"It's always nice to have someone around to help change the diapers."
- Sisko to Odo. DS9 / "The Begotten."
"What are you telling me, my baby's just... sad?"
"Perhaps he's become prematurely aware of life's existential isolation."
"You're sure it's not a rash?"
"Look at the bright side: he'll probably be a great poet."
- O'Brien and Bashir, on Kirayoshi's constant crying. DS9 / "Business as Usual."
"Family. You understand."
"Not really. I was cloned."
- Quark and Yelgrum. DS9 / "The Magnificent Ferengi."
"I am a Klingon warrior and a Starfleet officer. I have piloted
starships through Dominion mine fields, I have stood in battle against
Kelvans twice my size, I courted and won the heart of the magnificent
Jadzia Dax. If I can do these things... I can make this child go to
- Worf to Dax, on babysitting Kirayoshi. DS9 / "Time's Orphan."
"Well if you're going to do something, do it right - that's what my father used to say."
"Every father says that. Even I say that."
"That's why you're such a good parent - you know all the cliche's by heart."
- Kasidy Yates and Sisko. DS9 / "The Sound of Her Voice."
"I don't have anything to teach a daughter..."
"Why would it be any different from what you would teach a son?"
- Neelix and Tuvok. Voyager / "Elogium."
"But isn't that why we have minds? To look beyond biological urges...
to consider their consequences? If I'm going to ask myself to look at
those consequences... then I have to ask myself some questions. Am I
really ready to have a child? Am I prepared to give that child the
attention and devotion it deserves? Am I capable of taking on such a
huge responsibility? There's so much I haven't done... there's so much
I want to study and learn. I'm not sure I'm finished growing... How
could I help a child grow?"
- Kes to the Doctor. Voyager / "Elogium."
"I have never understood the practice in some cultures of describing
ferocious creatures in an attempt to lull children to sleep."
- Tuvok to Corin. Voyager / "Innocence."
Chapter 23: Humor
(Because I'm not in the mood for serious talk or mushiness. Haha.)
"I was making a little joke, sir."
"Extremely little, Ensign."
- Chekov and Spock. TOS / "The Trouble with Tribbles."
"You were saying you'll have no trouble explaining it..."
"My friend is obviously... Chinese. I see you've noticed the ears. They're actually easy to explain..."
"Perhaps the unfortunate accident I had as a child..."
"The unfortunate accident he had as a child... He caught his head in a
mechanical... rice-picker. But fortunately there was an American...
missionary living close by who was actually a... skilled plastic
surgeon in civilian life..."
- Spock and Kirk, trying to explain Spock's appearance to a human
policeman in the year 1930. TOS / "The City on the Edge of Forever."
"I don't understand their humor either."
- Worf to Data on humans. TNG / "The Naked Now."
"I simply want to know what is funny. I want to involve myself in other people's laughter. I wish to 'join in.'"
- Data to the Comic. TNG / "The Outrageous Okona."
"I've noted that some people use humor as a shield... they talk much yet say little."
"Whereas others take a simpler approach - say nothing."
- Worf and L'Ehleyr. TNG / "The Emissary."
"Well after six years in a place like this, you either learn to laugh... or you go insane. I prefer to laugh."
- Ee'Char to O'Brien, on incarceration. DS9 / "Hard Time."
"I have a sense of humor. On the Enterprise, I was considered to be quite amusing."
"That must've been one dull ship."
"That is a joke. I get it. It is not funny, but I get it."
- Worf and Dax. DS9 / "Change of Heart."
"You keep working on that sense of humor, Commander Vulcan. You'll get it one of these days."
- Neelix to Tuvok. VGR / "Before and After."
"I understand the concept of humor. It may not be apparent... but I am often amused... by human behavior."
- Seven of Nine to Kim. VGR / "Revulsion."
"Judging by the pollution content of the atmosphere, I believe we have arrived at the latter half of the twentieth century."
- Spock to Kirk / The Voyage Home.
"If I were human, I believe my response would be... 'Go to Hell.' If I were human."
- Spock to Kirk, on being ordered to return to spacedock to be decommissioned. The Undiscovered Country.
Chapter 11: Love
"Love sometimes expresses itself in sacrifice."
- Kirk to McCoy. TOS / "Metamorphosis"
"Too much of anything, Lieutenant, even love, isn't necessarily a good thing!"
- Kirk to Uhura. TOS / "The Trouble with Tribbles"
"On Earth, we select our own mate, someone we care for. On Earth, men
and women live together, help each other, make each other happy."
- Kirk to Shahna. TOS / "The Gamesters of Triskelion"
"The sooner our happiness together begins, the longer it will last."
- Miramenee to Kirk. TOS / "The Paradise Syndrome"
"HUMANS... YOUNG HUMAN MALES PARTICULARLY... HAVE DIFFICULTY SEPARATING PLATONIC LOVE AND PHYSICAL LOVE."
- Troi to Riker. TNG / "Haven"
"What about love?"
"The act or the emotion?"
"They're both the same."
"I believe that statement to be inaccurate, sir."
- Okona and Data. TNG / "The Outrageous Okona"
"There'll be others - but every time you feel love, it'll be different. Every time it's different."
"Knowing that doesn't make it any easier."
"It's not supposed to."
- Guinan and Wesley, on parting from the girl he loves. TNG / "The Dauphin"
"Who needs rational when your toes curl up...?"
- Beverly to Troi, on Troi's irrational relationship with Devinoni Ral. TNG / "The Price"
"I fell in love in a day. It lasted a week. But WHAT a week."
- Beverly to Troi, on a whirlwind romance. TNG / "The Price"
"... YOU CAN'T BE OPEN TO LOVE IF YOU DON'T RISK PAIN..."
- Troi to Beverly. TNG / "The Host"
"DATA, WHEN YOU GET INVOLVED WITH ANOTHER PERSON, THER'RE ALWAYS RISKS. OF DISAPPOINTMENT. OF GETTING HURT."
- Riker to Data. TNG / "In Theory"
(I think I shall call you DATA from now on, Anna)
"Relationships with coworkers can be fraught with consequences."
- Picard to Troi. TNG / "Lessons"
"THE POINT IS SOMETIMES WE DON'T SEE TRUE LOVE EVEN WHEN IT'S STARING US RIGHT IN THE FACE."
- Dax to Odo. DS9 / "Shadowplay"
"That's the thing about love. No one really understands it, do they?"
- Garak to Quark. DS9 / "Profit and Loss"
"And it's been my observation that you humanoids have a hard time
giving up the things you love... no matter how much they might hurt
- Odo to Kira. DS9 / "Heart of Stone"
"Everyone is trying to... look out for us. Protect us from ourselves.
But in the end, all that matters is how we feel... and what we do about
it. Because either way, we're the ones who have to live with the
- Dax to Dr. Lenara Kahn, on their relationship, forbidden in Trill society. DS9 / "Rejoined"
"You humanoids. You're all obsessed with these convoluted mating rituals."
- Odo to Garak. DS9 / "Broken Link"
"I... am a fool."
"You're in love. Which I suppose is the same thing."
- Worf and Dax, on his behavior with Grilka. DS9 / "Looking for par'Mach in All the Wrong Places"
"But you can't go through life trying to avoid getting a broken heart.
If you do, it'll break from loneliness, anyway. So you might as well
take a chance. If you don't, she'll move on, and you'll never know what
you might have had. And living with that is worse than having a broken
heart, believe me."
- Bashir to Odo. DS9 / "A Simple Investigation"
"The way I see it, people are either meant to be together or they're not."
- Kira to Dax. DS9 / "Children of Time"
"We are not accorded the luxury of choosing the women we fall in love
with. Do you think Sirella is anything like the woman I thought that
I'd marry? She is a prideful, arrogant, mercurial woman who shares my
bed far too infrequently for my taste. And yet... I love her deeply. We
Klingons often tout our prowess in battle, our desire for glory and
honor above all else... but how hollow is the sound of victory without
someone to share it with. Honor gives little comfort to a man alone in
his home... and in his heart."
- General Martok to Worf. DS9 / "You Are Cordially Invited..."
"Commander... I don't think you can analyze love. It's the greatest
mystery of all. No one knows why it happens, or doesn't. Love is a
chance combination of elements... Any one thing might be enough to keep
it from igniting... a mood, a glance, a remark. And if we could define
love... predict it... it would probably lose its power."
- Neelix to Chakotay. VGR / "Unforgettable"

MORNING and MOURNING
it's still very early in the morning and i'm working on my explo tasks. it's the last week of our summer classes and that translates to portfolios and narratives to be checked by our bosses, and given to the parents at the end of classes. 2am-5am have been my best working hours since highschool (twas catalyzed by pubescent phone marathon sessions and getting emo over heartbreaks soundtracked by a mixed tape).
but i'm still functioning on autopilot after losing pinku. i made trixie my shock absorber yesterday afternoon and i played musical chairs with all the stages of grief in our time together. shock-denial-anger-bargaining-depression-testing... and the start of acceptance already, i hope.
it's funny how mornings symbolize new hope. when you feel like crap and sleep is a sweet escape, mornings actually become unwelcome guests.
FRAYED and 'FRAID
lots and lots and lots of things to do, and not only do i want to do them on my magic working time, i need to already. since i don't have a laptop anymore, i don't have the option of just winging it once i'm in school already. i have to work on my desktop pc at home. it's a hassle borrowing computers from my co-teachers, i know they need it badly at this time too. and so, i am led back to my first passion, doodling and drafting things with a pen and paper. i'm actually retraining my hand to catch up with my ADHDish brain and its run-on sentences. gudlak to me.
wah, but it's spooky working now knowing that pinky got abducted at this time of the day. :( i'm actually freaked out knowing that i could very well bump into the &^^$%& thief on the street and i won't even have the idea. of course s/he's just around. how the hell else would s/he know that we have laptops here?
i'm now making myself believe that pinku just got beamed up by scotty.
LOSS and LAWS
it's actually my first time to lose things via theft, not just by my ditziness. when i left my make-up kit at dubai airport, i had my kaburaraan to blame. having things taken away... ugh. mas bad trip. hay.
and the thing is, the moment i knew it was gone, i didn't even delude myself that i'd still get it back. after such deliberate effort, ano ibabalik? after ireport sa pulis, sa barangay, what? what then? asa pa 'ko that something will actually happen. laws seemingly equate to mere suggestions nowadays.
as far as i'm concerned, the only law working for me at that time was murphy's. anything that can go wrong will go wrong. and boom. tada!
DAYS and DAZE
ooh but well. gotta roll with the punches. this too shall pass. days seem to be so much faster now anyways, it's surprising. like for example, jeb and i are a day away from our third year anniversary. WATABOUTIT huuuh? 3 years na kami. ansaya.
and just like that, the crappiness of everything alse poofs, and becomes koko krunch.
celebrate good times kamown!
babay na. pero share ko lang because well, it's fun. from here.

- Homophone: One of two or more words pronounced alike but different in meaning or spelling (as the words to, too, and two)
- Homograph: One of two or more words spelled alike but different in meaning or pronunciation (as the bow of a ship, a bow and arrow)
